Upside down

The stool rests on three hand-sculpted ceramic heads, each with a facial expression. But all of them are the stool's legs. Literally, they mean upside down.
The play on words works on all levels: "Upside down" symbolizes a reassessment of values, a change in perspective.
"Head" symbolizes a foundation, a support. After all, it is thinking that sustains our lives.
The stool's leg is the head. It symbolizes how sometimes it is our ideas, emotions, fears, or dreams that become the foundation on which we stand or fall.

The oak wooden seat seems to say, "Without those who support me, I would fall."

Each head is unique. Like everyone who has ever felt their life "turned upside down." Some accepted the new order with a smile, some with bewilderment, some with defiance.
