The two-meter ceramic panel "Venus of Moscow" is a hymn to the tile, as if it were an enlarged version, showcasing its amazing pictorial component. The panel is monumental, three-dimensional, and colorful. Maintaining the traditions of the vibrant palette of Russian majolica, the background is white, harking back to the Moscow tiles popular until the late 18th century.
The panel depicts a naked girl covered with leaves. This is a modern take on the "boisterous" Suzdal tiles of the 18th century. The Suzdal Museum holds similar images on tiles—a curvaceous woman with bare breasts and a raised hem, with the caption "Although I beckon, I do not give in." Moreover, this is a reference to Kustodiev’s “Russian Venus,” which glorifies the beauty of the female body, and to a domestic scene of an integral Russian pastime – the bathhouse.
